GMR: An attractive Resistance

Magnetoresistance was first discovered by Lord Lekvin. But he didn't have 
the technology to exploit it. Today, 141 years later, the effect, its 
clever younger brother giant magnetoresistance and pioneering studies of 
magnetic thin-film structures could soon enable very high density magnetic 
data storage and computer memory.
