Spatial Oscillation of Magnetic Hyperfine Field near the Free 
Fe(110)-Surface

The local structure of the magnetic hyperfine field B_{hf} near 
Fe(110)-surfaces is analysed using monolayer probe Mossbauer analysis, for 
the Ag-coated surface at 90<T<300 K and for the free surface at 300 K. A 
prediction of Rado regarding a twofold enhanced thermal decrease of the 
magnetization in the surface was confirmed. Using the thermal decrease 
from the Ag-coated surface, the data of the free surface were extrapolated 
to the ground state, resulting in a clear spatial oscillation, B_{hf} 
being reduced in the first monolayer by 0.75 tesla and enhanced in the 
second monolayer by 0.77 tesla.
